Student composers in the B.M. program work closely with a nationally recognized faculty in settings designed to accommodate the student's experience and interests, from weekly private lessons to group seminars.

All students receive intensive training in Music Theory, Music History, and Musicianship, as well as specialized instruction in Analysis, Orchestration, Instrumental/Choral Conducting, Instrumental Performance, World Music, and Electronic Music.

A number of performance opportunities are available to student composers. The Composition and Chamber Music programs work closely each semester to guarantee performances of composers' works by their fellow instrumentalists.
