| Abstract |
Highlights the problem of violence & delinquency among youth in US society, based on regression analysis of state-level crime data utilizing a cross-sectional design. Results indicate that juvenile incarceration is impacted by demographics - ie, magnitude of the juvenile population, number of African Americans, & educational achievement. However, it is primarily affected by child maltreatment patterns. Evidence suggests this to be the primary focus of prevention. Two policy variables are also considered. 2 Tables, 12 References.
