Abstract An article condensed from the October edition of Youth Today. There remains a huge shortfall between the housing needs of gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender (GLBT) youth and what is available. The only tworesidential group-home programs specifically for GLBT youth are Gay and Lesbian Adolescent Social Services, headquartered in West Hollywood, and Grammercy Residence on Manhattan s East Side. The need for supportfor GLBT youth is enormous, with 80 percent reporting severe emotional and social isolation. The writer discusses the results of a study of gay and bisexual youth published in the May edition of Pediatrics.
