Abstract |
Discusses the rationale & implementation of a group work approach in working with HIV+ (human immunodeficiency virus-positive) mothers in the Bronx (New York City) that proved to be an effective modality for combating a sense of isolation & building a renewed sense of community. Establishing surrogate family ties was also found to be an outgrowth of the group process. Themes explored included disclosure, transmission, parenting dilemmas, & support for the multiple health & medication issues related to being HIV+ women & mothers. 15 References.
