Abstract |
This article presents a multiservice center approach to service delivery in three Chinese immigrant communities in the United States. The operation of this approach is characterized by the DECENT (developmental, educational, comprehensive, empowerment, networking, and teamwork) principle. These multiservice centers were found to be successful and well received in meeting the needs of the community. However, the well being of the immigrant community is threatened by increasing anti-immigration sentiment in the larger society. Major challenges to the future success of the multiservice center and community-based practice are addressed. ((c) 1999 APA/PsycINFO, all rights reserved)
