Abstract |
The purpose of this study was to determine if there are differences between American Indian and white, non-Hispanic recipients of mental health services that indicate the need for a modified treatment approach with NativeAmericans. Findings were that 38 American Indian recipients differed from a matched sample of 38 white, non-Hispanic participants in diagnosis, time since last mental health visit, education, and religion. This article raises furtherquestions for study and provides some limited information for people who treat American Indian clients.
