Symposium Information

The 2nd Annual Leadership Symposium will be held on September 12, 2009. This event is an opportunity for SF State leaders to connect with each other, build partnerships and develop leadership skills. This event is a campus-wide conference style program open to all SF State students regardless of any prior leadership experience. The day will begin promptly at 9:00 a.m. in Jack Adams Hall (located on the Terrace Level of the Cesar Chavez Student Center) and conclude at 3:30 p.m.

Leadership Symposium Objectives

  1. Develop individual students’ basic leadership skills
  2. Assist students in defining what leadership is and what the role of a student leader is at SF State
  3. Engage students in meaningful discussions grounded in the various components of leadership
  4. Provide networking opportunities for student leaders to engage with each other to foster collaboration and coalition-building
  5. Provide hands on leadership development experience to seasoned student leaders by establishing mentor roles and incorporating them in the planning and execution of the event
  6. Strengthen a sense of community on campus
  7. Connect faculty, administrators, and staff with student leaders
  8. Connect non-University entities with student leaders to promote leadership beyond the SF State community
  9. Educate students early on regarding University expectations, policies, procedures, and resources for student organizations
  10. Develop a new SF State tradition while complimenting existing traditions
