Japanese Program

PURPOSE: To provide opportunities to practice teaching and financial support to graduate students in our Masters Program with an Emphasis on Teaching Japanese as a Foreign Language.
 

ELIGIBILITY: Current graduate standing in the Masters Program with an Emphasis on Teaching Japanese as a Foreign Language. 

Priority goes to our advanced graduate students who have taken at least one of the following graduate courses:

JAPN 770: Seminar in Teaching Japanese
JAPN 780: Practicum in Teaching Japanese
FL 750: Curriculum and Instruction I: Foreign Languages
FL 751: Curriculum and Instruction II: Foreign Languages

New entrants who have previous teaching experience or have taken an equivalent teacher preparation course are also eligible.

Submit the applications to the Program Coordinator no later than the following dates:

Applications for the fall semester: April 30 of the preceding semester.
Applications for the spring semester: November 30 of the preceding semester.

Early applications are strongly encouraged.

Successful applicants are selected by the Selection Committee composed of all full-time faculty members of the Japanese Program.

Applicants will be notified of the results individually as soon as the selection is completed.
