Formative Evaluation and Usability Testing
Prerequisites: ITEC 800 and ITEC 801
This course helps make evaluation an integral part of the professional practice of implementing instructional design projects. The focus in on usability tests concerned with identifying and correcting problems in the usability of elearning software; on formative evaluations concerned with measuring what was learned as a result of an elearning interventions (Kirkpatrick's Level 2), and on formative evaluations concerned with measuring the job task performance improvements as a result of an elearning intervention (Kirkpatrick's Level 3). As a cumulative project for the course, students must plan a study, collect and analyze data, and write an evaluation report for either a usability test or a formative evaluation study and recommend improvements.
