Marian Shaffner received her B.S. in Elementary Education from Oregon State University and an M.A. in Teaching English as a Foreign/Second Language and an M.A. in Educational Technologies, both from San Francisco State University. She is currently a Faculty Developer at the Academy of Art University, providing onsite and online professional development trainings to the Academy's faculty. She has extensive teaching experience at all levels from preschool through adult education, including 22 years of K-8 classroom experience. She was the Assistant Director of Outreach for The George Lucas Educational Foundation and authored the online professional development modules Project-based Learning, Assessment, and Technology Integration. She served as a consultant for Brøderbund, a worldwide marketer of productivity and education software, and is a co-author for the Kid Pix Studio Deluxe Teacher's Guide. In 1999, Ms. Shaffner served as an Education Executive Board Member at the Hellerman's Reports EdNET Conference in Toronto, Canada. Additionally, she has served as an Apple Core Trainer, a Palm Education Training Coordinator, and has presented at a variety of educational conferences, including the International Society for Technology in Education(ISTE), Macworld 2000, EdMedia 2003, the Central and Eastern European Schools Association - Budapest, Hungary (CEESA) in 2004, and the Professional and Organizational Development Network (POD) in 2005.
