Tanaka Gaines holds an M.A. in Education with a concentration in Instructional Technologies (ITEC) from San Francisco State University, as well as a bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting from Fresno State. She was a high-school teacher for eight years and currently teaches ITEC 601 and ITEC 712 for the Department. Ms. Gaines firmly believes that teachers should meet the requirements aligned with California Content Standards in conjunction with teaching in "real world situations," and that all students can succeed, regardless of their backgrounds.
