Wen currently works as OTL System Development (ITC consultant) for Academic Technology at SF State, where he helps with software development and project management for various projects. SF State currently has one of the largest moodle installations in the world. His recent projects include Moodle developer course (a Mellon Award for Technology Collaboration and a collaboration project with Humboldt State University), TurnItIn integration, quickmail block improvement, and scalability testing with moodle (using JMeter scripts). He received his Ph.D. in Instructional Systems Technology from Indiana University, Bloomington (with minor in Computer Science) in 2000, and his M.S. in Computer Science from University of North Texas in 1994. Between year 2000 to 2005, he was working in Hong Kong as a team leader and lecturer in Multimedia Innovation Centre at Hong Kong Polytechnic University for a year, and then became an Assistant Professor at City University of Hong Kong. After he got married and moved back to SF bay area in year 2005, he was working as a BI consultant at Wells Fargo Bank for two years, and then decided to return to academia for this current job. His areas of interest include multimedia design for instructional/learning purposes, Internet and new media communication, Business Intelligence, OSS (Open Source Software) development and maturity/decision-making models, and e-learning in general.
