SEISMIC

Student Engineered Initiatives in Social Media Involving Community (SEISMIC) promotes the use of social media tools as a means of engaging other students in civic and political service beyond the classroom. Last year, SF State students chose to organize around the issue of California 's budget cuts and their effects on education. Students brainstormed, organized, gave classroom talks; created and posted protest flyers around the campus; created a Facebook group, United Against CSU Budget Cuts that now has 1,358 members statewide across the CSU and created a Twitter page. GET INVOLVED!

After seeing Slumdog Millionaire another student became interested in the issue of child labor and  created a Facebook page that now has 1,056 members from all over the world. Join Unite for Children: Unite Against Child Labor and take action.

Finally, SF State fashionistas created and redesigned a WiserEarth webpage, Fashion through Futures to show that eco-conscious fashion designs
can also be fun, creative, and sexy.
