Forgot Password Help


 

The “Forgot your Password” feature allows users who forget their HRMS account password to reset their own password and have a new password sent to their SFSU E-mail address.

In order to use the “Forgot your Password” feature, a secret question must be selected and answered in order to validate user identity.

 

Please note the limitations with the “Forgot your Password” feature:

1)        The “Forgot your Password” feature only works if you have forgotten your password, and does not work for accounts that have been locked out due to 3 or more failed login attempts.  Accordingly, we recommend you use this feature upon the first failed logon attempt due to a forgotten password.  For locked out accounts, you must call five-help (5-4357) in order to have your account unlocked and password reset.

2)        If your password has expired and you don’t remember your old password you must call five-help (5-4357) in order to have your password reset.

 

The following instructions will assist you in setting up

"Forgot your Password"

Instructions for setting up your HRMS “Forgot your Password” secret question and answer.

1) Log into HRMS and from the left hand menu click on

2) Then click on the "Change or set up forgotten password help"

3) Using the drop down menu, choose a secret question and type in your own personal response. Then click “OK”.

Congratulations! You have now completed the “Forgot your Password” setup. You can change your question and answer anytime you wish.

 

The following instructions will assist you in using the "Forgot your password" feature

 

Instructions on how to use the “Forgot Password” feature in HRMS

1) Go to the HRMS login page and click on “Forgot your password?

2) Enter your User ID (note: User-id is case sensitive) and click “Continue”

3) Enter the answer to your secret question and click on “Email New Password”.

Please verify the Email ID displayed on the screen, as it will be used to send you your new password. If your Email ID is incorrect, please call FiveHelp(5-4357) for assistance.

4) Please check your email for your new password. This new password should only be used one time to successfully log into the system. Once you have successfully logged in with your new password, use the password guidelines below to choose a new password.

Once you have logged into the system, take a moment to review the Password requirements below:

Upon receiving your temporary password, take time to determine a new, secure, well encrypted password by following the guideline below.

Use secure passwords.
Password requirements:
Length minimum is 8 characters.  
Must contain at least one uppercase Alphabetic (A-Z)
Must contain at least one lowercase Alphabetic (a-z)
Must contain at least one number (0-9)
Cannot contain any of your names (first, middle, last)
Cannot contain your user ID
Cannot contain a previously used password (the system remembers your last password)
Cannot contain these special characters:
#
@
space character
The following suggestions are optional:
Does not contain repetitive characters (sequences)
Does not contain any names, person, places, or things found in a common dictionary
One of these characters should be a special character example; ( ! $ % ^ & * ( ) _ = + < > ? “ )
●     Accounts are locked after 3 failed sign on attempts
●     Passwords expire after 90 days. you will receive notification 7 days before    the password expires
