Employee ID numbers and Employee ID

Your ID number will be assigned as soon as your record is entered into the Human Resources Management System when you are hired. ( Need more information about One Card)

Email Account

Once you have obtained your SFSU Identification number:

  1. Call (415) 338-1872 and ask for a password reset code.
  2. Log into to SF State Authentication , using the code
  3. You will be prompted to create 6 security questions after which you can create a password. This will become your SF State password.
  4. Armed with the password log into SF State E-mail Account Services and create your email account.
Business cards

More than likely, someone in your office will help you order business cards, but if you need to do it, here's the link. You'll need an authorizing signature to complete your order.

Computers and telephones

Many services are arranged for you by your department, so check with your supervisor. Even so, you'll want to read the Computer Use Policy and find out about other services such as ergonomics training

Emergencies and campus police

Ask your supervisor about building emergencies (where to go in the event of a fire alarm, how to check in to let someone know you are out of the building.) For information on campus emergency preparedness, take the  Emergency Preparedness Tutorial:  If you have an office emergency and need immediate assistance, dial 9-911. Holidays and other dates

On the campus calendar, you can search for events by date or event type.

Job classification and pay programs

Your job is placed in a generic classification. For information, go to Classification and Compensation ; on the Human Resources website.

Library privileges

Staff and faculty employees are entitled to library privileges, and your One Card will enable you to use them right away.

New employee orientation

Human Resources gives an orientation for staff employees (Need more information on this topic)

Parking and transportation

If you drive to your job, you'll need a parking pass to use the University lots.SF State Offers monthly parking passes at reduced rates. Also offered is public trasportation schedules through your MYSFSU account. Public trasportation offeres an easy way to access the university.

Paydays and payroll schedules

You'll either receive your pay on the first of the month for the previous month or on a semi-monthly basis. Your supervisor will know which schedule you are on and when you should turn in your timesheet.
