AEIOU Achieving Excellence In Our University

A STAR has been sighted!

August 2007

Congratulations to Sadia Afandi, who has been selected as SF State’s August 2007 STAR of the Month!  Sadia, an Administrative Support Assistant in Human Resources, Safety and Risk Management, was recognized for her “positive and welcoming” face that she presents at the front desk both to university employees and to visitors on campus.  Sadia’s accuracy, timeliness, and ability to handle multiple duties make her an even more valuable – and valued – member of the Human Resources team.

Sadia was presented with certificates from the President and the STAR Committee, a personal letter from Dr. Corrigan, parking space or reimbursement for public transportation costs, a gift certificate, and a commemorative star.  Leroy Morishita, Vice President and CFO, Administration & Finance, and Ted Yamasaki, Associate Vice President of Human Resources, Safety and Risk Management, joined many of Sadia’s colleagues in congratulating her on this award.

The Service & Teamwork Award Recognition (STAR) Program

The Service & Teamwork Award Recognition (STAR) Program is intended to identify and recognize SFSU staff members who distinguish themselves in their performance and contributions to the University. These are employees who have demonstrated the ability to promote the University's mission and who strive for the highest possible standards in that endeavor.
All staff members, excluding Unit 4, who are in temporary, probationary or permanent positions are eligible for consideration. Additionally, a predefined project/work team may be considered.

For additional information on the STAR Program, including information about Nominating STARs and volunteering for the Committee, please consult HR Practice Directive 570.
