Fee Waiver & Reduction Program

The California State University offers eligible employees and their eligible dependents the opportunity to enroll in work related courses offered by the CSU at a reduced fee.

Deadlines

Spring 2010 Fee Waiver Filing Deadline for EMPLOYEES:
December 3rd*

Spring 2010 Fee Waiver Filing Deadline for DEPENDENTS:

The Fee Waiver Filing Deadline was established to effectively process all of the Fee Waiver Applications in a timely manner, as well as allow all the participants to pay their reduced fees directly at the Bursar's window.


*Fee Waiver & Reduction Program Applications submitted after 5pm

on the Filing Deadline will be DENIED.

Employee

Employees may enroll in the Fee Waiver program for the purposes of improving skills for existing jobs, or advancement in accordance with an approved career development plan leading to a career in the CSU.


Employee Eligibility:

Eligibility Criteria

Employee Category

Full-time employees (i.e., permanent, temporary and probationary), and part-time employees with permanent status.

Units 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, 9, 10 and 12

Tenured and probationary faculty unit employees, coaches with at least six years of full-time equivalent service in the department and temporary faculty unit employees with 3 year appointments pursuant to Article 12.

 

Unit 3

Full-time or part-time permanent** employees, and full-time probationary employees (no temporary)

Units 1, 8, Confidential (C99)**, Excluded (E99)**, Executive (M98)**

Full-time employees

MPP (M80)



Employee Procedures
:

1.) Submit your complete application to your supervisor for an appropriate administrator's approval.


2.) Submit the completed and approved application with payment to the Bursar's window by the Filing Deadline. Paying the reduced fee without a completed and approved application by the filing deadline date will not meet the requirements of the program.


3.) If you have not already been assigned a registration date, wait two weeks for your registration date to be assigned to you.

4.) Log on to mysfsu to add/drop classes during your assigned registration period.

5.) If you add or drop any classes you must fill out and submit to Fee Waiver Coordinator the Change of Course form.

Dependent

The CSU offers eligible employees the option to transfer his or her fee waiver benefit to a spouse, domestic partner or dependent child who meets the enrollment conditions.


Dependent Eligibility:

Eligibility Criteria

Employee Category

Full-time employees (i.e., permanent, temporary and probationary), and part-time employees with permanent status.

Units 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, 9, 10

Tenured and probationary faculty unit employees, coaches with at least six years of full-time equivalent service in the department and temporary faculty unit employees with 3 year appointments pursuant to Article 12.

 

Unit 3

Full-time or part-time permanent** employees, and full-time probationary employees (no temporary)

Dependent Procedures:

1.) Submit your complete application by the Filing Deadline to Human Resources, Safety & Risk Management (ADM 252).

2.) Wait at least five (5) business days for processing.

3.) Then instruct your dependent to pay their reduced fees at the Bursar’s window.  Payments must be made before the Fee Payment Deadline to avoid penalties.

4.) Your dependent may then log on to mysfsu to add/drop classes during assigned registration date.

Individual Career Development Plan (ICDP)

The Individual Career Development Plan (ICDP) is a formal definitive plan of coursework, on the job training and development activities which may lead toward qualifying for target classifications within the California State University.

A completed ICDP form is required for SFSU staff enrolled in courses that are a part of an approved career development plan. ICDP forms are not required for Dependent Fee Waiver participants.
