Faculty & Staff Employment Services Introduction

Staff Employment Services is committed to the delivery of services in the areas of staff and management recruitment, compensation and classification for faculty and staff. Our unit provides consultation regarding CSU Classification Standards, CSU Salary Schedule and SF State Careers on-line recruitment system as it relates to the Staff Recruitment process and maintains the official personnel file for Faculty and Instructional Student Employees. Integrating the CSU Collective Bargaining Agreements, the unit works collaboratively with HR Labor Relations, SF State College and Department Hiring Managers, Personnel Liaison's, and employees to facilitate access and implementation of services as it relates to the following program areas:

Unit Responsibilities

  • Staff / Administrator (MPP) Recruitment
  • Faculty /Staff / Administrator Hire and Employee change E-TRAC Processing
  • Classification & Compensation Guidelines and Review
  • Special Consultant and Independent Contractor Review and Designation
  • Staff Volunteer Process
  • Staff Sign-In / On-Boarding for new Employee Process
  • Verification of Employment Status
  • Maintains the University HRMS data; establishes transaction guidelines and instructions for HRMS/E-TRAC processing

HR Management Systems Introduction

Maintains the University HRMS functional modules and HR data and, collaborates with the Division of Information Technology to develop new IT - related programs, such as employee self-service, and campus ID management.

Unit Responsibilities

  • Provide first line support for SFSU’s and HR campus end users of HR Management Systems
  • Administer all security-related activities related to campus access to the HR Management Systems (e.g. E-TRAC)
  • Develop, advise and implement HRMS security protocols, policy and guidelines
  • Facilitate the maintenance and implementation of all HRMS modules; including enhancements and new functionality
  • Provides support for Employment and Payroll Units HRMS training programs
  • Administer self-service HR-related applications
  • As the custodian of HR data, evaluate and respond to University data requests and facilitate regulatory reporting
  • Serve as liaison for campus audit activities with respect to HR-related data requests
