Approval of an In-Range Progression salary increase is subject to funding availability.
No commitment should be made to an employee regarding a salary increase prior to evaluation by Human Resources and endorsement by the appropriate Cabinet-level officer.
IRPs are awarded at the behest of the President and are not grievable.
Approved IRPs will typically be effective the first of the pay period following completion of Human Resources' review.
Employee-initiated requests may be submitted by employees in Units 2, 5, 7 & 9.
Purpose of In-Range Progression awards:
To reward and retain employees who make critical contributions to the mission of the University.
To maintain equity between campus employees.
To recognize a permanent assignment of significant higher level job functions that do not require a classification or skill level change.
IRPs are not to be awarded for the following reasons:
To increase a retiring employee’s pension amount.
To reward longevity of service.
For cost of living increases.
To reward performance which meets the standards expected from all employees.
For increased responsibilities which will be of limited duration (see Bonus or Temporary Reassignment Programs).
