Move-In Day

 

Move-In Day for all confirmed housing residents is Thursday, August 22, 2013, beginning at 10:00AM. Confirmed residents will receive an email containing roommate information and designated move-in time at the end of July.


Applicants on the wait list should not attend Move-In Day, as the Housing Office will not be assigning spaces that day.

Check in for both Mary Ward Hall and Mary Park Hall will be in the Mary Park Hall Lounge, located on the Font Blvd. side of Mary Park Hall.

20-MINUTE PARKING: Font Blvd. **University Police will strictly enforce, and hand out citations.**

LONG-TERM PARKING: Lake Merced Blvd. (free); Lot 19 - State Dr. ($6/day)

Towers at Centennial Square (Jr. Suites and Apartments)

Check in for the Towers at Centennial Square (TCS) will be at the Towers Conference Center, which is located below the Jr. Suites. Entrances are at the Jr. Suites (Science and Technology Theme Community) front door (798 Font Blvd.) and the Towers Conference Center doors (State Dr.).

Check in for Village at Centennial Square Buildings A, B, and C will be in the Village courtyard, at the top of the Village steps, at 750 Font Blvd.

Check in for University Park South will be located in front of the University Housing Business Office at 800 Font Blvd. (the street side of Mary Ward Hall).

Check in for University Park North will be located at the University Park Residence Life Office, located at 17 Buckingham Way.

LONG-TERM PARKING: Street parking near your UPS address. **Please note permitting information on street signs, enforced by the San Francisco Police Department.**

After Hours Move-In (after 5:00pm, August 22)

Residence Halls, Towers at Centennial Square, Village at Centennial Square

Residents checking in after 5:00pm on Move-in Day will need to check in at the Community Desk of the building they are assigned to. Access to buildings is granted by the SF State OneCard (Student ID). Students who have not received their OneCard may use the utility phone available next to the front door to call the Community Desk for assistance.

 

University Park South and North

Residents will check in at the Towers at Centennial Square Community Desk, located at 796 Font Blvd.

 

Please note: the University Housing Office will be closed after 5:00pm on Thursday and Friday, and is not open on weekends.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to move in on Move-In Day?

Students may begin to move in after 10am on Thursday, August 22. Students have been given times to move in, but these are suggested times. Students may move in after regular move-in hours, or on a later date. Students who plan to move in after classes begin (Monday, August 26) should notify the Housing Office via email (housing@sfsu.edu).

Will the Housing Office be open?

The Housing Office is open 9am to 5pm on weekdays, including Move-In Day. The Housing Office is closed on weekends, including the weekend following Move-In Day.

Can I get my SF State ID card on Move-In Day?

The OneCard office will be open from 8:30am to 5pm during the whole week of Move-In (Monday, August 19 through Friday, August 23). Housing highly recommends that students have their ID card at the time of check-in to expedite the process.

How do I get to campus and where should I park?

When does my meal plan start working?

Meal Plans included in the License Agreement will be activated for dinner on Move-In Day. Lunch is free for all residents WITH a meal plan. Lunch is available for purchase for family and friends.

 

Residents can only lower their Meal Plan during the first week of each semester. Residents may raise their Meal Plan at any time beginning August 22. Meal Plan Change forms can be found in the Housing Business Office.

Can I borrow a hand-truck or cart?

The hand-truck rental booth will be located in the middle of all 4 campus housing communities in the front of the Towers Jr. Suites (Science and Technology Theme Community). Residents will be asked to leave a form of identification (such as a Student ID Card or Driver's License) in exchange for a hand-truck. There is a 30 minute time limit on all hand-truck rentals.

 

Housing strongly suggests residents bring their own hand truck/dolly for move-in, as there is an extremely limited number to provide students.

Can I send a "Storage Pod" to campus?

Storage pods are closet sized crates that are delivered from one site to another by storage companies. While these sound convenient, please DO NOT utilize this service; we do not have any room on the campus grounds to receive these storage containers.

Can I mail my possessions to SF State?

Please do not have your items arrive before you do. We are unable to store items for students who have not checked in. You should arrange for packages and other mail to begin arriving after Move-In Day.
