Outlook

Outlook 2007

Outlook 2007 (a part of the Microsoft Office for Windows suite) is the recommended SF State e-mail and calendar program for Windows computers, and is available for free installation on SF State University-owned computers. To obtain Office software for University-owned computers, contact your unit's technical representative or contact the DoIT Help Desk at x81420. Office software is also available at the SF State bookstore at a discounted price for faculty and staff personally-owned computers that are used to do work at home. Outlook 2003

Upgrading to Outlook 2007 is recommended for improved performance for the individual user as well as for reducing load on the e-mail system as a whole. While not recommended, Outlook 2003 is supported for use with the SF State faculty and staff e-mail system. To install or configure Outlook 2003 read the Outlook 2003 Installation & Configuration Guide.

Entourage

Entourage (a part of the Microsoft Office for Mac suite) is Microsoft's adaptation of Outlook for Mac OS X and is available for free installation on SF State University-owned computers. Apple Mail

Apple Mail (also known as Mac Mail) is an e-mail program included with the OS X system for Apple's Macintosh computers. With Snow Leopard (OS X.6), Macintosh has shared calendar and Global Address Book features through the Apple iCal and Address Book applications. Thunderbird

Thunderbird is an open-source e-mail program and newsreader developed by the Mozilla Foundation. It is freely available for Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux.
