Universities are being targeted in phishing scams. DO NOT respond to any e-mail requests for your password, PAC or any other personal information. These are phishing scams and are not from SFSU. If you responded to any of these phishing requests, sign-in and change your password immediately. If you also revealed your PAC, you should change your PAC first.

Requesting an Account

Individual SF State E-mail and Web Account online request -- available for SF State students, faculty and staff.

Printable Account Request Form If you cannot use the the online account request link above, or if you are only eligible for a paid account, return a completed form to ADM 110.

Log in to https://www.sfsu.edu/email/ to change your individual account e-mail password.

Forwarding E-mail

Log in to https://www.sfsu.edu/email to:
  • Have e-mail addressed to your sfsu.edu account forwarded to another account
  • Modify your forwarding address
  • Delete a current forwarding address

Switching from POP to IMAP

In the past, SF State recommended POP for SF State e-mail. Now, the newer and more efficient IMAP protocol is recommended.

Many common e-mail programs, both web-based and installed, can be used to access SF State e-mail. The following guide provides brief descriptions and comparisons of some important features of these programs: What E-mail Program is Right for Me?

Web-based E-mail

inside.sfsu.edu Web e-mail provides access to e-mail, calendar and other tools from any Web-enabled computer -- on or off campus.
inside.sfsu.edu/portal
is the access point for multiple Web-based e-mail and calendar options (plus other Web tools for the campus community)
Webmail.sfsu.edu is an ADA accessible Web-based e-mail program.
