Using Oracle on libra
1. Log on to the libra server (libra.sfsu.edu) using the same account and password that you use to check your SFSU e-mail.
2. If prompted for ORACLE_SID = ?, type, in lowercase: sfsu2
3. At the libra% prompt, type, in lowercase: source /usr/local/bin/coraenv
You need to do this everytime you login to use Oracle. If you know how, you can edit your .login file and add this statement there so you don't
have to do this everytime. Otherwise, don't worry about it; just type the above statement whenever you need to access Oracle. If prompted for ORACLE_SID = ?, type, in lowercase: sfsu2
4. The first time you use your ORACLE account, change your ORACLE password (not your e-mail account password). First, start a sqlplus session by typing,
after the libra% prompt: sqlplus youraccountname (Note: substitute youraccountname with your e-mail account name).ALL Oracle accounts have been initially validated with the same password which is: change
So, when prompted with Password:, type: change
At the SQL> prompt, change your ORACLE password by typing: password
You should then respond to the prompt for Old password:, New Password: and Retype new password:
***REMEMBER YOUR NEW PASSWORD!***
Get out of your sqlplus session by typing: exit
