For assistance, please contact the Division of Information Technology's Help Desk.

Requirements

NOTE: Do not insert the wireless card until you are instructed to do so.

STEP 1: Obtain Software

Create a folder named Cisco on your C: drive. Save the following files into the Cisco folder:

  1. Cisco Aironet 350 driver version 8.2.3
  2. Cisco Aironet 350 Firmware upgrade 4.25.30
  3. Cisco Aironet 350 Client Utility 5.05.001

STEP 2: Decompress Software

STEP 3: Insert Wireless Card & Install Drivers

Insert the Aironet card into the PCMCIA slot of your laptop. Make sure that the Aironet 350 Series Wireless LAN Adapter label is facing up when you insert the card.

CAUTION - Do not force the PC card into your computer's PC card slot. Forcing it will damage both the card and the slot. If the PC card does not insert easily, remove the card and reinsert it. These procedures and the physical connections they describe apply generally to conventional PCMCIA card slots. In cases of custom or non-conventional equipment, be alert to possible differences in PC card slot configurations.

If this is the first time that you have inserted the card into your laptop, you will be prompted to install the drivers for the card.

  3. Select Search for the best driver for your device. (Recommended). Uncheck Removable Media (Floppy, CD-ROM…). Select Specify a location:. Click Browse; find the cisco folder that you created. Click OK. Click Next.
  4. When the client adapter driver is displayed, click Next to copy the required files.
  5. The Add New Hardware Wizard window opens and indicates that the installation is complete. Click Finish.
  6. When prompted to restart your computer, remove the CD or floppy disk (if installed) and click Yes.
  7. After the computer restarts, double-click My Computer, Control Panel, and Network.
  8. Select the Cisco Systems Wireless LAN Adapter and click Properties.
  9. In the client adapter Properties window, click the Advanced tab.
  10. In the Advanced window, select SSID. Type SFSU. Please note that this field is case-sensitive.
