Downloading Other Internet Applications
You may want to download additional Internet applications such as Eudora or update a version of Netscape. To do this, you just need to refer to the following instructions.
Launch your preferred web browser - Netscape
or Internet Explorer
by double-clicking on the appropriate icon.
- In the Location, Netsite, Goto or Address field in the top part of the web brower window, type in the following site:
- http://www.sfsu.edu/~doit/sw.htm
- Select on the appropriate computing platform.
- If you have an Apple Macintosh computer, click on the Macintosh downloadable software link.
- If you have a PC, click on the Windows downloadable software link.
- Scroll up and down to find the application you want to download. Read the notes to make sure the application is the correct one for your When you're ready to download the application:
For Macintosh users, click the name or version number under the FTP link pickup column (3rd column).
For Windows users, click the name or version number under the FTP link pickup column (3rd column).
- When asked to save the file, select an appropriate location.
- For Macintosh users, save onto the Desktop
- For Windows 95/98/NT/ME/2000/XP users, save in c:\sfsutemp or another temporary folder on the hard disk. If you do not have an c:\sfsutemp directory you can create one or simply save the file to another folder that will be used specifically for downloading files. Many people have a c:\tmp or c:\temp directory that can be used for storing downloaded files.
- Click the Save button.
- Note: The file you just downloaded may still need to be uncompressed.
- Mac users can use Stuffit Expander to uncompress.
- PC users can double click on the file that was just downloaded to uncompress it. To find the file, use Windows Explorer.
