AFS - Basic Commands








Command Description
kpasswd
    Changes your current password
kas examine your_acct
    Checks when your password expires
tokens
    Use this command to check the life of your token. Tokens are used to control access to files. See the command klog
klog
    Use to renew 'stale' tokens. As a security measure, you are given a token, which has a life of 3 hours, everytime you log in. If things don't seem to work (e.g., you can't save a file), issue this command to get a new token; this is equivalent to logging out and logging back in
fs listacl .
    Lists who has access to your current working directory
fs listacl dirname
    Lists who has access to the specified directory
fs setacl dirname access_rights
    Sets ACLs on the specified directory

 

Examples:


fs setacl train5 rl
    Grants read and lookup rights to the directory train5
fs setacl train5 none
    Grants no access rights to the directory train5; this can also be used to take all access previously granted to a user
fs setacl dirname system:anyuser rl
    Grants read and lookup access right to any user
