Manual Installation: Cisco AnyConnect VPN Client for Windows

Requirements
- Windows XP w/ SP2 (SP3 recommended) or
Windows Vista w/ SP1 (SP2 recommended) or - Windows 7
- You must currently be employed as faculty or staff at San Francisco State University.
Manual Installation
- Click on the "Download Cisco AnyConnect Client for Windows" button, You will need to
enter your University ID number and password (The password should be the same as your SFSU e-mail password.).
- Save the installer (anyconnect_win.msi) to your computer.
- Close your Web browser then double-click on the installer to start the installation. If prompted "Do you want to run this file?" Click Run.
- Click Next in the "Welcome to Cisco AnyConnect VPN Client Setup Wizard" window.
- Select "I accept the terms in the License Agreement" then click Next.
- Click Install.
- Vista and Windows 7 users will see a User Access Control prompt. If requested, enter the name and password for an administrative account. Click on Allow to continue the installation.
- Click Finish when you see "Click the Finish button to exit the Setup Wizard."
Note: You will need to make VPN connections manually rather than through a Web browser after a manual installation.
Connect Manually
- Open the Cisco AnyConnect Client by selecting:
Start > All Programs > Cisco > Cisco AnyConnect VPN Client > Cisco AnyConnect VPN Client - Set the following fields to::
- Connect to: sfsu-vpn.sfsu.edu
- Group: FACULTY-STAFF
- Username: your SF State ID number
- Password: your SF State password

- Click Connect.
- Once the connection has been made there will be a system tray icon for the Cisco AnyConnect VPN Client that displays a closed padlock. The closed padlock indicates that you have an active VPN connection.

- To disconnect, right-click on the AnyConnect icon in the system tray then select Disconnect. To disconnect and quit the AnyConnect Client, select Quit.


- To reconnect after disconnecting, right-click on the AnyConnect icon in the system tray and select Open AnyConnect. Follow the instructions you used to make your original connection (Step 2 and 3).
