Language Learning Materials Research Teaching Do you like to work with kids? Check out the Bay Area's German Saturday Schools. They are always looking for teaching assistants and classroom volunteers. The Berkeley Language Center offers a lecture series each semester with a focus on new developments in the field of teaching methodology and Applied Linguistics. The German Studies Association (GSA), is a non-profit educational organization which promotes research and study of Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. Defined as a multi- and interdisciplinary association of scholars in German, Austrian, and Swiss history, literature, culture studies, the GSA holds an annual Conference and publishes a scholarly journal - German Studies Review - as well as a Newsletter. Membership is open to anyone interested in German studies. The Modern Language Association of America (MLA), founded in 1883, provides opportunities for its members to share their scholarly findings and teaching experiences with colleagues and to discuss trends in the academy. The MLA meets annually in late December and publishes 4 major periodicals, including the ADE Bulletin; the ADFL Bulletin; Profession; and PMLA. The Pacific Ancient & Modern Language Association (PAMLA). PAMLA is one of six regional of the Modern Language Association, and participates in reciprocity with the Northeastern Modern Language Association (NEMLA) that allows members to participate in the other association's conference as a courtesy member.
