The Faculty

San Francisco State University attracts a very interesting faculty with academic and personal accomplishments that sets them apart from their peers in their respective fields. As a small program, the faculty of the German program takes pride in offering a diverse curriculum covering the area of German language, literature, culture, and linguistics. Both, Dr. Ilona Vandergriff, trained at the University of California, Berkeley, and Dr. Volker Langbehn, trained at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, bring a wide range of experiences, talents and research interests to the teaching of German; both are dedicated to the pursuit of excellent teaching and the development of student's potential and interest in German. Apart from Dr. Langbehn and Dr. Vandergriff, SFSU has a significant number of faculty with related interest in German.
