GOOD TEXT FONT CONTROL COMMANDS FOR MAPS

TEXTFONT
First of all, you should avoid the cruder fonts (1-20 or so), and just use
the Intellifont choices which I call zip-code fonts (94021, etc.).

TEXTQUALITY PROPORTIONAL
or
TEXTQUALITY KERN
You should use one of the above settings. The differrence between them
is KERN overlaps characters like L and Y. Try it out.

TEXTSPACING 1.1 or 1.2
Setting this to 1.1 or 1.2 gives a bit more space between the
characters. Beyond 1.2 it looks weird.

For titles, extra spaces between the words looks a bit better. There are
ways of getting Arcplot to set this up, but I've always found the
simplest method is to put an extrac space character between the words.
Try it out.
