Geog 312 Field Trip checklist
Camping gear:
- sleeping bag
- sleeping pad
- tent with rainfly and groundsheet (or share)
- cooking gear (or share):
- stove with fuel
- pots and utensils appropriate for food choice
- coffee pot for heating water
- matches
- ice chest
- eating utensils: fork, spoon, knife, plate, cup (everyone
should have their own)
- flashlight with batteries; lantern if you have one
- pocket knife
- toiletries and medicines
- towel
- swimsuit (optional, depends on location/weather)
- rain gear
- warm jacket and gloves
- wool or polypropylene underwear
- extra change of dry clothes
Day Hike gear:
- day pack or tummy pack
- water bottle or canteen
- comfortable, sturdy walking shoes (on this trip, running shoes
will do fine)
- wool or polypropylene/olefin socks -- with extra pairs
- layered clothing
- windbreaker, parka, or rain parka
- relevant literature (e.g. Kane's Through Vulcan's Eye)
- compass (optional)
- map (optional)
- camera (optional)
- notepad with pencil
- sunscreen
- hat (for sun or rain)
Food
- 3 breakfast (something instant, like instant oatmeal, that
only needs hot water)
- 3 lunches (carryable)
- 2 dinner (in groups)
- fruit, bars, etc. for snacks
- beverages
- Note: We will stop on the way back Sunday night to eat at
a restaurant somewhere; so bring cash
