1997 Point Reyes Field Trip

Photos from our 1997 Geography 316 Class Field Trip to Point Reyes
on September 27, 1997

This is the group at Samuel P. Taylor State Park, in a very large redwood tree (Sequoia sempervirens) fire scar.
Here we are experimenting with the effects of wind on low growing vegetation. This is at Chimney Rock (coastal prairie) .
Heather is experiencing what it would be like to be a tree in this community.
This is what the Douglas iris (Iris douglasiana) clumps look like in the fall.
The bishop pine (Pinus muricata) seedlings seem to be doing quite well along the Skyline trail. The 1995 Mt. Vision fire killed most of the trees in this area.
Thanks for coming! Hope you enjoyed it. We'll get more pictures on the next field trip to Mt. Diablo. Thanks to Tim Reed for bringing along the camera and taking the pictures!
