Part Two - Segment II Arts & Sciences (27 units minimum)

Segment II of General Education (GE)– 27 units

In addition to Segment I, students should be looking at Segment II choices. We call these courses the Arts and Sciences. If you are undeclared, you should use these courses to help you make decisions about choosing a major.

Use this link to select the class options for Segment II.

First-time freshmen need each of the following:

Nine units of Physical and Biological Sciences to graduate.
Do you have any science advanced placement test scores or community college credit in this area? If you already submitted official Advanced Placement scores or college transcripts, then go to MySFSU to check your Degree Audit Report, DARS, to review your transfer credit.
First-time freshmen need at least nine units of sciences from the approved GE lists.
This includes:
at least one Category A physical science (a three unit lecture)
At least one Category B biological science (three unit lecture)
At least one lab/field study (L/F ) course (Hint: L/F course needs to be taken either at the SAME time the lecture course, or AFTER completing the lecture. A few 3 unit classes also satisfy the L/F requirement.)
If the above coursework does not add up to 9 units, you may need an additional science course from ANY Category (A, B or C) to bring your science total to 9 units minimum.
(Hint: you may take a lecture together with, or separate, from its corresponding lab/field.)
