2013-2014 University Scholarship Winner
"I am so grateful to receive a....University scholarship that helps me to pursue my passion to work with people on an individual level to heal from trauma and empower them to thrive, working for social justice on a micro level as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Certified Rehabilitation Counselor. I chose San Francisco State University because it has an exceptional graduate counseling program. I served as Communications Coordinator for the Counseling Student Association; next year I will act as Vice President. I am a member of the Rehabilitation Counseling Association and Chi Sigma Iota, the Counseling Academic and Professional Honor Society International. Personal and professional experiences led to my interest in working with people who struggle with substance use and mental illness (dual diagnosis). Next year, I will begin my training as an intern at HealthRight360 (formerly known as Walden House), providing mental health services for clients seeking drug and alcohol treatment."
