Angelica Ekeke - Mount San Antonio College
2013-2014 Community College Transfer Honor Scholarship Winner
"My name is Angelica Ekeke, and I am a transfer student from Mount San Antonio College who strongly believes that success is always a step away and that every action or decision that we make will either move us closer or move us away from our dreams. Due to this belief, I have been an active Honor's student and was named Student of Distinction 2013 of Mount San Antonio College for serving my college and my community. I was also chosen as one of the 30 women to participant in the Scripps College's annual Women's Leadership Conference for future women who aspire to be agents of change within society. I am motivated and excited to accomplish my goals while continuing my education here at San Francisco State University in Fall 2013, majoring in Photojournalism and minoring in Spanish. I am very dedicated to my education and am very grateful for this generous scholarship that will have a great impact on my future. With this contribution, I will be given the opportunity to continue my educational journey. I am taking steps toward becoming an international photojournalist, news correspondent, ambassador, and a leader who will have the opportunity to travel the world and cover stories that impact not only my home here in America but also the world. I hope to also produce documentaries that will be a fertile ground to bring about change in communities and nations. Although I am at the beginning stages on my long journey, I know that every day I am closer to obtaining every aspect of my dream, and your contribution is a part of the wind that is propelling me forth to reach my goals and vigorously change the world for the better. This scholarship has touched my life, and I have faith that it will touch the lives of those that I will encounter in the future."
