Summer 2013 Financial Aid Information
PRIORITY DEADLINE APRIL 5, 2013 for Limited Financial Aid Resources
Who is eligible?
- Continuing SF State undergraduate and graduate students registering in R1,R2,R3 or R4 and ONLY for courses listed in the class schedule at www.cel.sfsu.edu/summer
OR - Students admitted into one of the College of Extended Learning (CEL) certificate, teaching credential, or master's degree programs approved for federal financial aid. Examples - paralegal studies certificate program,
Teachers 'Training Institute, EMBA, MSW (contact your program to see if it qualifies for federal financial aid)
- Complete and submit the Summer 2013 Request Form to our office by the priority deadline April 5, 2013. The Last day to submit this form to our office is 7/12/2013. (If you are awarded grants and/or loans you will receive a registration fee deferment in time for summer priority registration which begins on April 8, 2013.)
- Students must have a 2012-2013 Free Application for Federal Student Aid
Aid (FAFSA) on file at SF State.
If you do not have a FAFSA completed for the 2012-2013 year, complete your application on-line at www.fafsa.ed.gov
FAFSA deadline is June 1, 2013.
Summer 2013 award letters will be mailed out beginning
APRIL 15, 2013Summer 2013 award letters will be mailed (NOT available on the Gateway). To accept and receive financial aid, you must return your signed award letter to our office.
Types of Summer Financial AidCEL Fee GRANT
Priority funding deadline 4/05/2013
The Summer 2013 Request Form must be received by 4/05/2013 to be consider for this grant)Students who received a State University Grant or a Cal Grant during the academic year (or who would have been eligible for a State University Grant but missed the March 2,2012 FAFSA deadline) may be eligible for a subsidy that covers up to 2 units of registration fees for courses listed in the class schedule at www.cel.sfsu.edu/summer - 1 unit subsidy for students taking 3-5 units
- 2 unit subsidy for students taking 6 units or more
- Example: For undergraduates The fee for a 3 unit course is $1,080 ($360 x 3 = $1,080)
The grant covers the cost of 1 unit = $360.

- 6 units required for undergraduates and credential students
- 4 graduate units required for master's degree students
- Have remaining eligibility based on 2012-13 annual loan limits for your class level
