FEDERAL PERKINS LOAN


Federal Student Loan at 5% interest is offered to eligible undergraduate, second baccalaureate and credential students.

Enrollment requirement:

  • full-time = 12 units (undergraduate, 2nd baccalaureate & credential students)



Action Required for First Time Borrowers:

Prior to a Perkins Loan fund disbursement, first time borrowers of a Perkins Loan at SF State are required to complete the Entrance Loan Counseling and Perkins Promissory Note on line. After you have accepted your Perkins Loans on myFinAid you will need to wait 7 working days before you can complete the following steps.

You must use your Federal PIN number

Access Entrance Loan Counseling and Perkins Promissory Note on line at www.ecsi.net

  • Click on Students, eSign a Prommissory Note, San Francisco State University

  • Click on begin the Electronic signature process

  • Confirm your identity and complete steps 1-7.


When to repay:

Repayment to SFSU begins 9 months after a student is no longer enrolled at least half-time. If a Perkins Loan is declined, it may be possible to increase a Work-Study award.
