(S CT) Must See Tax Specialist to Determine Whether Taxes are to be Withheld

As a standard procedure, all Nonresident Aliens (NRAs) that receive payments such as scholarships, fellowships, stipends, grants, prizes, and awards from San Francisco State University (SF State) must meet with a tax specialist to determine if taxes must be withheld. An NRA is a person who is not a U.S. citizen, green card holder, or resident alien for U.S. tax purposes. U.S. federal tax laws require SF State to determine whether taxes are to be withheld from payments to NRAs and the income reported to the Internal Revenue Service.

Make an appointment to meet with the Tax Specialist in the Internal Audit office located in the Administration Building, ADM 258. Please email to schedule an online appointment for the interview. If you have any questions regarding any of the above, please feel free to contact Young Kim, Tax specialist, at (415) 338- 2325.
