  • To apply for Financial Aid

Student must file the (FAFSA) Free Application For Federal Student Aid online at:

    http://www.fafsa.ed.gov

In addition, the student must submit his/her acceptance letter for the approved Certificate Program to
Milly Mohr at the Office of Student Financial Aid (One Stop Student Services Center).

A few weeks after you file the FAFSA, the federal processor will send you a Student Aid Report(SAR) which summarizes the information you provided on your FAFSA. Review the SAR carefully and if any information is incorrect, make the changes on the SAR and return it to the processor, as instructed. You will then receive a corrected SAR. Keep this corrected SAR for your records. You do not need to submit the SAR to the financial aid office at SF State.

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM THE SF STATE FINANCIAL AID OFFICE

    Document Request

SF STATE receives your FAFSA information from the processor a few weeks after you file the FAFSA. If we need additional documents, you will be notified to submit the required verification documents. Do not submit documents to our office unless requested to do so.

    Financial Aid Offer

After we review your complete file, an Offer of Financial Aid will be mailed to you. Beginning Fall 2009, you will be notified of your award offer via e-mail, will view, accept your award on the web. It will include the amounts and types of financial aid awarded to meet your educational expenses, disbursement dates, and information about your responsibilities as a financial aid recipient.

    Enrollment Requirements

Students in the Certificate Programs are required to enroll in and successfully complete a minimum of 6 units per semester. The units must be units required for the particular certificate program. The student must be prepared to pay his/her own registration fees if financial aid eligibility has not been determined before the registration fees are due.
