American Association of University Women (AAUW) Educational Foundation Fellowship

International fellowships for full-time female graduate students – who are not U.S. citizens or permanent residents.


Boren Fellowship

NSEP-Boren supplements each Fellow's graduate degree program by funding up to two semesters of language intensives in the U.S. and up to two semesters of language and area studies abroad. In this way, Fellows develop or increase competency in their chosen language, and gain experience and disciplinary knowledge in the foreign country where they study.


Chamberlain Fellowship in Women and Public Policy

Under this program, fellows work for nine months at the Institute for Women's Policy Research as a researcher or communications assistant on policy issues related to economic and social justice for women.


Claremont Graduate University National Scholarships for Doctoral Study

America's only graduate-only, research-extensive university, CGU offers a full tuition doctoral scholarship for interdisciplinary/transdisciplinary study in any of its nine graduate schools: Arts and Humanities, Behavioral and Organizational Sciences, Community and Global Health Educational Sciences, Information Systems and Technology, Management, Mathematical Sciences, Politics and Economics, and Religion.


Critical Language Scholarships (CLS)

Critical Language Scholarships provide intensive language instruction and cultural enrichment experiences abroad to undergraduate and graduate students of Arabic, Azerbaijani, Bangla/Bengali, Chinese, Hindi, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, Persian, Punjabi, Russian, Turkish, and Urdu.


CSU Council on Ocean Affairs, Science & Technology (COAST) Student Travel Awards

Travel funding is available to CSU undergraduate and graduate student to participate in marine and coastal-related conferences.


CSU: California Pre-Doctoral Program

California Pre-Doctoral Scholars receive $3,000 in funding to develop their candidacy for doctoral programs. Applicants propose how they will use these funds: for visits to PhD-granting institutions, travel to professional meetings in their field, graduate school applications and test fees.


CSU: Hearst/CSU Trustees' Award

The Hearst/CSU Trustees' Award recognizes California State University students who have overcome adversity, demonstrate financial need, and have attributes of merit, including superior academic performance, significant personal achievements, and exemplary community service. Each year, S.F. State may nominate one to two students for this $6,000 award. One CSU nominee will receive a $10,000 award.


DAAD Intensive Language Courses in Germany

Awards to full-time graduate students at North American universities to attend 8-week intensive language courses at leading institutes in Germany.


DAAD Research Internships in Science and Engineering Professional Program

The RISE Professional Program places interns for 6 weeks – 6 months with German companies in biology, chemistry, engineering, geology and physics.


DAAD University Summer Course Grant

This program provides scholarships for summer courses at German universities which focus mainly on literary, artistic, cultural, political and economic aspects of modern and contemporary Germany.


Department of Energy (DOE) Computational Science Graduate Fellowship (DOE CSGF) Program

This fellowship, renewable for a total of 4 years, provides tuition and fees, plus a yearly stipend for doctoral study in physical, engineering, computer, mathematical, or life sciences, with an emphasis in high-performance computing.


DOD National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate (NDSEG) Fellowship

The National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate Fellowship is a highly competitive, portable fellowship for those who intend to pursue a PhD in science and engineering in one of the 15 supported disciplines of research interest to the Department of Defense.


Echoing Green

Two-year fellowship program provides $60,000 - $90,000 in seed funding and technical support to help social entrepeneurs turn their original high impact ideas into sustainable social change organizations working to solve deeply-rooted social, environmental, economic, and political inequities.


EPA National Network for Environmental Management Studies (EPA NNEMS) Fellowship Program

Under this fellowship program undergraduate and graduate students receive funding to work over a summer on a project at the EPA Headquarters in Washington, D.C., or at one of its 10 regional offices and laboratories.


Explorers Club: Exploration Fund Grants

The Explorers Fund Exploration Fund provides grants to graduate, post-graduate, doctorate and early career post-doctoral students, in support of exploration and field research for those just beginning their research careers.


Ford Foundation Predoctoral Fellowships

Three years of support are provided to underrepresented graduate students studying for a PhD or ScD degree in the humanities, sciences, or social sciences.


Fulbright U.S. Student Program

Greenlining Institute's acclaimed leadership academy trains the next generation of social change leaders. Its year-long Fellows Program is associated with Greenlining Coalition, one of the nation's most effective and longest lasting multi-ethnic coalitions of community-based organizations.


Knowles Science Teaching Foundation (KSTF) Fellowship

This five-year program provides financial support and mentoring to beginning science and mathematics high school teachers as they earn a teaching credential and through the early years of their teaching careers.


Marshall EPA Scholarship

The Marshall Commission and the U.S .Environmental Protection Agency provide up to five years of funding towards a doctoral degree in England in an environmentally-related field.


Marshall NIH Scholarship

Jointly funded by the Marshall Commission and the National Institutes of Health, NIH-Marshall Scholarships provide four years of funding for a doctoral degree in bioscience, medicine and related disciplines from any appropriate U.K. institution. The third and fourth years are spent in research at the NIH.


Marshall Scholarship

Marshall Scholarships provide funding to young Americans of high ability and leadership potential to study for two years for a degree in any discipline at any university in the United Kingdom.


Mass Media Science and Engineering Fellows Program

This fellowship program places undergraduate and graduate students at various media sites throughout the U.S. during the summer, to work as science journalists.


Mitchell Scholarship

Each year 12 Scholars with a deep commitment to public service are selected for one year of postgraduate study in any discipline offered by institutions of higher learning in Ireland and Northern Ireland. This graduate fellowship is for the early stages of graduate study, usually a one-year master's degree program.


National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Aeronautics Scholarship Program Graduate Scholarship

The two-year NASA Aeronautics Graduate Scholarship is awarded to highly motivated graduate students in aeronautics and related fields with at least two years remaining in their program.


National Consortium for Graduate Degrees for Minorities in Engineering and Science GEM Fellowship Programs

Full fellowships with paid internships to highly qualified underrepresented students to pursue an MS in Engineering or a PhD in Engineering or Science .


National Physical Science Consortium (NPS) Fellowship

This program provides up to six years of funding for a PhD in the physical sciences and related engineering fields, plus at least two summers of paid employment with a leading national employer such as the National Security Agency or the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory.


NIH National Biosafety and Containment Training Program (NBBTP) Fellowship

The 2-year NBBTP Fellowship prepares fellows for a career in biosafety and biocontainment through academic training, experiential learning, and applied occupational safety and health research opportunities.


NIH Summer Internship Program (SIP) in Biomedical Research

This program provides an opportunity to spend the summer working with leading scientists in biomedical research at one of the National Institutes of Health intramural laboratories.


NSF Central Europe Summer Research Institute Fellowship (CESRI)

The Central Europe Summer Research Institute provides graduate students in the sciences and engineering with a high-quality international research experience in Austria, the Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia.


NSF East Asia and Pacific Summer Institute (EAPSI) for U.S. Graduate Students

EAPSI provides U.S. graduate students in science and engineering with a summer research experience in Australia, China, Japan, Korea, New Zealand, Singapore or Taiwan.


NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program (NSF GRFP)

Point Scholarship

The Point Scholarship Program provides tuition, living expenses, and mentoring to outstanding lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender undergraduate and graduate students in any discipline.


Rhodes Scholarship for Non U.S. Citizens

A Rhodes Scholarship makes possible two or three years of study at Oxford University in any field. Scholarships of $1,000 to $5,000 are available on a competitive basis to Hispanic graduate students in any discipline who are pursuing their first graduate degree.


International Rescue Committee (IRC) Sarlo Academic Scholarship

Scholarships of $1,000 to $5,000 are awarded to meet the educational expenses of undergraduate and graduate students who are refugees, asylees, victims of human trafficking, or Iraqi and Afghan recipients of Special Immigrant Visas.


Ten Thousand Degrees New Leader Scholarship

The New Leader Scholarship provides $8,000 in aid to extraordinary upper division undergraduates or graduate students in Bay Area public universities who are from disadvantaged backgrounds and pursuing or planning to pursue advanced education in the social sciences, human services, health-related fields, public interest law or public service.
