Program Purpose and Description
KHOP is an intensive law school preparation program that requires participants to make a two-year commitment during their junior and senior years. The KHOP commitment involves two academic years and two consecutive summers. During the four-week summer sessions (July – August), participants are "in residence" at UC Davis where they take classes in writing, logic, and LSAT prep, sit in on presentations, participate in Moot Court or Mock Trial, and meet with tutors and admission professionals who help guide their academic and career decisions. During the academic year, they participate in a mentorship program with a current law student, attend workshops on the application process, take practice LSAT exams under test conditions, and go on field trips. The program provides the opportunity to meet law professors, attorneys, and admissions professionals from various law schools.

Applicant Profile
Applicants must either be first-generation college students (no parent or legal guardian has a bachelor's degree), or come from an economically disadvantaged background (defined as having a household income less than or equal to 200% of the federal poverty guidelines, which can be found at http://aspe.hhs.gov/poverty/ ). A minimum 3.0 GPA is required.
Selection Criteria
Higher consideration given to students enrolled in Trio or other college outreach programs such as EOP.
Application Process
A tax return is required, or the tax return of anyone who claims the applicant as a dependant.
Eligibility
Sophomores and other undergraduates at least two years from graduation.
Deadline
Usually in April.
