Program Purpose
The National Biosafety and Biocontainment Training Program Fellowship has been established by a partnership between the Division of Occupational Health and Safety (DOHS) and the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) at National Institutes of Health in Maryland. The NIH Bethesda Campus provides a rare opportunity for professional training in biosafety and biocontainment at one of the foremost biomedical research centers in the world.
Program Description
The 2-year NBBTP Fellowship prepares fellows for a career in biosafety and biocontainment through academic training, experiential learning, mentorship, developmental assignments, and applied occupational safety and health research opportunities. In addition to the general curriculum, each Fellow follows an Individual Professional Development plan.
Applicant Profile
Applicants are invited with undergraduate or graduate degrees in microbiology, public health, medicine (human or veterinary), or other allied sciences (including industrial hygiene, engineering). Successful applicants will have microbiology or research laboratory experience combined with excellent communication and team-building skills, professional performance, employment history, and recommendations.
Eligibility
Applicants must possess a bachelor's degree, master's degree, or Ph.D. in a supported field.
Citizenship
U.S. citizens, permanent residents, or nationals.
