Program Purpose
This program offers junior nursing undergraduates with outstanding academic potential the opportunity to work on research projects with nursing faculty mentors.
Program Purpose and Description
The eight-week program is designed for students who plan to pursue the PhD Degree and enter academic careers in nursing. The program includes formal and informal discussion on career options, GRE preparation and other activities. Each student participant is assigned to a faculty mentor and participants will either assist the faculty member in an ongoing research project or work collaboratively with the mentor in designing a new project of mutual interest. Research areas are: Biobehavioral Sciences, Biologic Sciences, Health Disparities/Vulnerable Populations and Health Services Research.
Benefits
Students will be awarded a stipend in the amount of $2,400. Students traveling within California will be provided with up to $200 for travel expenses.
Applicant Profile
The ideal candidate will be a qualified nursing students from any undergraduate institution in the United States. Preference will be given to first generation college students.
Eligibility
Must be a qualified nursing student currently holding undergraduate junior status.
Citizenship
U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
Deadline
Usually the beginning of February.
