Program Purpose
The American Physical Society Minority Scholarship Program aims to increase number of underrepresented students obtaining degrees in physics.
Program Description and Benefits
The program provides minority physics students with educational funding – of $2,000 per year for new scholars and $3,000 per year for renewal students – and mentoring to enhance their education and prepare them for career success. Graduates have gone on to become physics faculty at universities, research scientists at corporations and national laboratories, and high school physics teachers.
Eligibility
African American, Hispanic, or Native American freshmen or sophomores majoring or planning to major in physics.
Citizenship
U.S. citizens or permanent residents.
Deadline
Usually early February.
