San Francisco State University Costco Scholarship
College of Ethnic Studies
2011-2012

The San Francisco State University Costco Scholarship is available to students who are in their junior or senior year at San Francisco State University in the Fall of 2011. Students applying must have financial need as determined by the SFSU Office of Student Financial Aid. Preference will be given to economically and educationally disadvantaged students who are committed to helping others with similar backgrounds.

In order to apply, students must have a GPA of 3.0 The annual scholarship will be an amount equivalent to the annual standard fee to attend SFSU. The scholarship is renewable for five years on the condition that the student completes 24 units per academic year and maintains satisfactory academic progress with a cumulative GPA of 3.0, or special review.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

1. Must be either a junior or senior at SFSU as of Fall 2011.

2. Scholarship requires full time enrollment at SFSU for the academic year 2011-2012. This scholarship is renewable on the condition that the student completes 24 units per academic year and maintains a cumulative GPA of 3.0. If requirements change during the tenure of the student, the student will be informed before the reapplication period.

3. Have financial need as determined by the SFSU Office of Student Financial Aid (OSFA). Apply online at www.fafsa.ed.gov or use the paper 2011-2012 Free Application for Federal Student Aid and submit by the published deadline.

4. Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent resident.

5. Maintain a SFSU GPA of 3.00. Majoring in any department.

6. Write a personal statement (see application for guidelines) not to exceed three pages, double-spaced, typed. Do not put your name on the personal statement. Please staple the personal statement to the application. Also attach a copy of your most current Transcript.

Selection Procedure
Completed applications that meet the above criteria and are received by the April 29, 2011 deadline and are reviewed by the scholarship committee. Students selected to receive scholarships will be notified by the middle of August.
