Services

Structured First Year Experience
Student Support Services (SSS) offers an orientation for new SSS students entering San Francisco State University (SFSU) in the fall of every academic year. The orientation explains the basic services and policies of SSS while introducing the new students to SSS staff. New SSS students are expected attend advising and tutoring, complete academic workshops and learn to practices conducive to successful academic progress.

Priority Registration

SSS students once givenpriority registration to all classes which help ensure that SSS participants are able to register for the classes and professors they need to help them graduate in a timely manner.

SSS Grant Aid
Occasionally, SSS gives an SSS grant to eligible SSS participants depending on fiscal availability. The amount of the award depends on how much money is available and only will be given to those most in need.

Assistance with Other SFSU Departments
SSS can provide some assistance with the admissions, remediation, financial aid, housing, and other application processes at SFSU. We also serve as advocate and assist students with personal matters.

Cultural and Social Activities
SSS strives to build a learning community where our students from diverse backgrounds have opportunities to enjoy the diversity of the SFSU and Bay Area community. To this end, on occasion, we provide free social and cultural activities during the year for students to meet their SSS peers, faculty, and staff.

Informational Resource
SSS provides a wide variety of information on topics such as scholarships, awards, grants, volunteer placements, and other opportunities to get involved at SFSU and the surrounding Bay Area community through regular email updates.
