Podcast Captioning Usability Assessment
Please take a few minutes to view six captioned podcasts that were developed by different captioning firms for our Podcast Captioning Accessibility project. The purpose of this project is to identify long-term solutions for audio files and podcasts that more and more instructors and professors are developing for their classes as a supplemental material that they can post to iLearn and/or iTunes and/or even e-mail directly to students.
The original podcast (.mp3), which is strictly an audio file, was developed by an instructor in the Department of Instructional Technologies (ITEC) on campus. Six different firms provided us with synchronized caption output meaning the captions can be played simultaneously with the .mp3 file. Some of the firms supplied the caption file to be played in three different media players while others provided the file to be played in only one media player. If you cannot open the files, you may need to download the appropriate media players or update your current media players.
