    Dear DPRC:

Students keep leaving lots of paperwork from your office in my mailbox. I get things called "test accommodation verification" and "FAST form". I know these students need some kind of special test arrangement, but what am I supposed to do about it?

    Dear Floundering:

I'm sorry we are overwhelming you with our paperwork! You are correct that the forms you mention are related to test accommodations that the University must provide to eligible students whose disabilities would impact them on exams taken under standard conditions.

Here's the good news: it is the student's responsibility to talk with you in person and explain how the test accommodations can be set up. You don't need to take any action until they do that. So when students leave paperwork in your mailbox without talking to you, please refer them back to the DPRC to learn the proper procedures. To protect students' privacy, you might make a general announcement that any students leaving test accommodation information in your mailbox need to talk to you during office hours. That will give the student and you the opportunity to talk privately.

If you want to find out more about the test accommodation process on your own, please visit the Test Accommodation section of our Faculty FAQ.

Thank you for your efforts to assist students with disabilities!
