SINGLE-LINE TELEPHONE USER'S GUIDE
Dialing Off Campus | Single-line Telephone Operation | Special Features and ServicesDialing Off Campus
- To dial a local call - Dial 9, listen for dial tone & dial the 7-digit number
- To dial a long distance call - Dial 9 + 1 + the 10-digit number
- To dial an international call - Dial 9 + 011 + the number
- To reach an outside operator - Dial 9 + 1 + 800 + CALL ATT (225 + 5288)
- Using a calling card operator - Calls which require operator assistance must be made with a telephone calling card. Sprint is the University's calling card carrier. - For Sprint dial 9 + 0 + telephone number + normal calling card procedures
- Override codes for other long distance carriers - Dial 9 + override code + 0 + telephone number + normal calling card procedures
- MCI = 1010222
- Sprint = 1010333
- The University's collect call policy - The University does not accept collect calls; local and long distance operators have been instructed to block any attempt to complete such calls.
SINGLE-LINE TELEPHONE OPERATION
- Hold
- To place a call on hold, depress flash or tap key, *4
- To retrieve the call, depress flash or tap key
- Park - To place a call on hold and retrieve it from any other phone on campus. (Once a call is PARKED, your telephone is available for re-use)
To Set:To Retrieve From Another Phone:
- While connected to party, depress flash or tap key
- Dial *0
- Hang up
- Dial #0 and the extension with which the call was parked
- Transfer - A call may be transferred to an on-campus extension. If the call is not answered, it will ring back to you.
- Depress flash or tap key
- Dial the number to which the call will be transferred
- Hang up when ringing is heard (or stay on the line to introduce the call; the caller being transferred will not hear the introduction)
- If there is a busy signal, or no answer, depress flash or tap key to be reconnected to the caller.
- Three-party conference - A three way conference will include you and two other parties. As long as one of the remaining parties is on campus, you may hang up, leaving the other two people connected.
If there is a busy signal, no answer, or you misdial, depress the flash or tap key to be reconnected to your original party.
- Establish connection with first party; announce the conference
- Depress flash or tap key
- Dial the number of the second party; announce the conference
- Depress flash or tap key (all three parties are now connected)
- Directed call pick-up - To answer an incoming call directed to another telephone.
- Lift handset, dial #7 and the ringing extension
- Recall -
- Message set -
- Message callback -
- Callback - Automatically connects with a busy extension when it becomes idle. ( Calls may be placed and received after setting a CALLBACK)
To Set:When both extensions becomes idle, your phone rings. Lift handset; the called party's phone rings.

To Cancel:

- Hang up
- Call forward - no answer - Automatically forwards your incoming calls to any extension you select on campus or to Voice Mail, if your phone is not answered within 15 seconds.

- Dial number to which calls will be forwarded (86000 for Voice Mail)
- Lift handset
- Dial #2
- Hang up
- Call forward - busy - When your phone is busy, automatically forwards your incoming calls to any extension you select on campus or to Voice Mail
To Set:

- Dial *5
- Dial number to which calls will be forwarded (86000 for Voice Mail)
- Hang up
To Cancel:
- Lift handset
- Dial #5
- Hang up
- Call forward - all calls - Automatically forwards all your incoming calls to any extension you select on campus or to Voice Mail.
To Set:(86000 for Voice Mail)
- Lift handset
- Dial *3
- Dial number to which calls will be forwarded
NOTE: Your telephone will not be available for receiving or placing calls when this feature is set.

SPECIAL FEATURES AND SERVICES
- Multi party conference - The SFSU multi-party telephone system has the capability to conference between FOUR and EIGHT parties.
- Call Telecommunications (338-1824) to reserve its use.
- Notify all conferees of the scheduled time and the telephone number 338-7400 (extension 87400 if on campus).
To answer an off-campus caller, while you are using the telephone. Does not work for an on-campus caller who will still hear a busy signal. Your CALL FORWARD-BUSY must NOT be set for call waiting to work.
- The conference leader should dial 338-3500 , while the other conferees dial 338-7400.
- After everyone has joined the conference call, the conference leader can enact privacy by depressing "0"(zero key). Privacy can be released during the conference if the leader depresses "0" a second time.
- To terminate the conference, the conference leader should depress "#", to disconnect all parties.
- Call pick-up - This is an enhanced version of directed call pick-up (single line telephone user guide).
Within a pre-determined call pick-up group, allows you to answer incoming calls directed to another telephone, without dialing the ringing extension.Call Waiting can be activated by contacting your Unit Telecommunications Coordinator

- When you hear the tone (repeats every 10 seconds), depress flash or tap key. You will place the first party on hold and answer the new caller.
- By depressing flash key, you can switch back and forth between the two parties
