Macintosh Applications
The table below lists the public domain/shareware/evaluation copies of applications available for Internet exploration and WWW development. To pick-up a copy of the program, select the application web page link where you can download the most recent version. Unless otherwise noted, software download links point to the vendor's web page(s).

and Notes DecompressAladdin Systems Stuffit Expander is used to decompress .hqx, .sit and .zip files. Stuffit Expander is no longer a separate stand alone product. OS 9 & OS X include a free version of Stuffit Expander installed with the OS.

Quicktime, by Apple, is used to view video/sound files in Quicktime (.mov) format. Also can play various audio file formats (.mp3, AAC and more).
QuickTime 3.0 Pro is available for SFSU campus owned computers. Contact x82494 for registration information. Upgrading to Quicktime Pro allows full screen video playback, editing and more for $30.Adobe Reader software is the global standard for electronic document sharing. It is the only PDF viewer that can open and interact with all PDF documents. Use Adobe Reader to view, search, digitally sign, verify, print, and collaborate on Adobe PDF files.
Firefox is a popular web browser. Supports tabbed browsing. Check the Firefox FAQ and/or the Mozilla Firefox knowledgebase for solutions to problems, frequently asked questions, and tips. If certain sites do not load properly, use Safari.
Software available to the SFSU campus community ONLY
Click on the button in the Download column to download the software. You will be required to enter your San Francisco State ID as well as your PAC code. Machines located on the SFSU campus can download directly via ftp by clicking on the icon in the Application colum.

Fetch is an easy-to-use, full-featured FTP and SFTP client. Use to transfer files, rename/delete files, and create directories. Originally developed at Dartmouth University, now owned and developed by Fetch Softworks.
